Actor Chris Hemsworth feels that he is done playing the God of Thunder, after seven years in the role.
Of late, Hemsworth has been gaining more success in the industry outside of the Marvel movies, after box office disappointment in films like Blackhat and In the Heart of the Sea, his recent foray into comedies like Ghostbusters have been received well by audiences.
Hemsworth’s contract with Marvel comes to an end after Avengers 4, and the actor confirmed on Australian breakfast show, Sunrise, that he feels like he’s ready to move on from the character:
“My contract’s coming to an end, we’ve just finished the last two Avengers. Who knows what the future holds. […] We felt like we reinvented the last one in a big way. It felt refreshed and re-energised. We might have a conversation if there’s another great script that comes along. But at the moment that’s it.”
Of course, the real future of the character depends on how the events of Avengers 4 unfold, so we’ll have to wait until 2019 to know for sure whether there’s a chance Thor could return in the future. However, for now, Hemsworth is keen on taking a break from acting, so after finishing the fourth Avengers instalment, the actor wants to take time out to focus on his family.
