After much speculation among fans, it has been confirmed that Fear the Walking Dead’s fourth season will include a major time jump.
The main show has had a head start against its prequel series, however this is set to change when Season 4 of Fear sees the arrival of Lennie James’ Morgan Jones. Not only will James’ arrival see Morgan alongside Fear cast members Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, and Maggie Grace, but he is also moving the story into the future, away from the cliff-hanger of Season 3.
Robert Kirkman confirmed in issue #176 of The Walking Dead, that the two shows will be closer than ever as they move forward:
“This half of Season Eight leads directly into Fear the Walking Dead Season Four, which will shake that show in a majorly cool way. So make sure you hang around for that.”
Importantly, these words confirm that Morgan will definitely survive the ‘All Out War’ between the Saviours and the other communities, which is likely to take place in the second half of Season 8.
Many expected that Morgan’s arrival on Fear would address his disappearance between Season 3 and 5, however doing it this way makes more sense, as Morgan going from Atlanta to California and back again in this time would be ridiculous. However, this begs the question of what will happen to the aftermath of the dam, and the survivors’ journey to Texas. Will we skip it entirely, or will new showrunners Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss tell the story via flashbacks?
All that remains is to wonder what happens in Season 8 of The Walking Dead that prompts Morgan to make the journey to Texas, away from Rick and the other communities?
