J.B. Smoove Joins ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Apparently in a leading role

Sony has cast J.B Smoove in the forthcoming Spider-Man sequel, Far From Home.

While the studio have yet to comment on the casting or what role the actor will be playing, sources have told Deadline that Smoove is taking a leading role in the ensemble.

He is the first new cast member to join the film beyond Jake Gyllenhaal who is still expected to play the film’s villain, Mysterio. Jon Watts is directing the sequel, with Tom Holland returning as the titular webslinger.

Michael Keaton, Zendaya, and Marisa Tomei are also expected to reprise the roles in Far From Home, with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal producing.

Smoove will film his role before returning to his regular role in Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiam.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is slated for release on July 5th, 2019.
