Wrestler-turned-actor John Cena is in talks to star in Paramount’s Duke Nukem film, a big-screen adaptation of the long-running video game franchise.
The character first appeared in the 1991 video game from Apogee Software, fighting to save planet Earth using his strength and firearms expertise, the cigar-smoking muscle man with a flat-top and Ray Bans, went on to appear in 19 video games, most recently “Duke Nukem 3D: World Tour.”
The project is set to come from the Paramount-based Platinum Dunes, which is operated by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller. There’s no news on if the film currently has a writer or director in place.
You can see Cena next in Transformers prequel Bumblebee, starring Hailee Steinfeld, and produced by Bay.
