Nintendo Confirms it is Working on a Mario Movie It's part of the company's plan to increase its earnings from other industries.

Nintendo has confirmed via Twitter that Mario will be coming to the big screen very soon as part of a collaboration with Illumination. The animated Mario movie will be co-produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri.

Illumination are part of Universal, which Nintendo are working with to open Nintendo Land attractions in three Universal parks.

This comes after Nintendo CEO and president Tatsumi Kimishima’s comments back in 2016 that he would love to see Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach on the big screen. It seems now is the right time for Nintendo to venture out into other industries. They recently jumped over to the mobile gaming space, also announcing Mario Kart Tour for the platform today. The company are also looking to take a bite out of the toy market with their upcoming Labo play kits which blend gaming, construction and play.

This news is part of a string of recent announcements from Nintendo after they revealed the launch date for Nintendo Switch’s paid online service, SNES classic sales figures and Mario Kart Tour.
