Director Ron Howard took full advantage of Star Wars’ Force Friday, by announcing a new member of the cast of his forthcoming Han Solo movie.
The director revealed via his Twitter feed that actor Paul Bettany, who has worked with Howard before on films such as The Da Vinci Code and A Beautiful Mind, has joined the cast of the forthcoming, untitled Han Solo film. Howard posted a picture of him and Bettany, with the caption: “The Outer Rim just got a little bit wider #PaulBettany #ForceFriday”
Who Bettany might be playing is something of a mystery, though many have speculated that he might be stepping into the shoes of Michael K. Williams who recently stepped away from the project, due to scheduling conflicts – it has also been suggested that the role might involve some kind of performance capture, which Bettany is familiar with.
Also in the cast are Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton and Donald Glover, among others – and is slated for release on 25th May 2018.
